It is 1898. H.G. Wells has just published War of the Worlds. New York City is expanded to include the four outer boroughs. And the mine at Silver Creek has run dry. However, before Silver Creek residents decided to pack it in, a miner struck gold! People immediately got back to work, and now town is having record profits. But rumors spread. Rumors of a rich town and soft citizens. And gold is a powerful draw. Rumors hint that the infamous "Mad Bart," and his gang of thugs, are on the prowl. Despite the fact that some citizens have armed themselves, the people of Silver Creek need all the help they can get to fight off these threats.
